Andres Ferraro

Andres Ferraro is a Senior Research Scientist at SiriusXM-Pandora, where he develops multimodal music recommender systems at the intersection of machine learning, music, and artificial intelligence. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Mila and McGill University, conducting interdisciplinary research on the design of music recommendation systems. From 2015 to 2021, he was a researcher at the Music Technology Group at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, contributing to the CompMusic project’s Dunya platform, the development of Freesound, and collaborative research on music recommendation systems with Kakao. He earned his Ph.D. from Pompeu Fabra University in 2021, with a dissertation examining the impact of music recommendation systems on artists and exploring how recommender systems can be designed to be more ethical and beneficial for all stakeholders. He also holds a master’s degree from Universidad de la República (Uruguay), where his research focused on lyric representations in Tango music. His research interests include recommender systems, music information retrieval, multimodal AI and large language models, and responsible AI.
