Planning to travel to Brazil for LAMIR 2026? Check your entry requirements early so you have time to prepare any documents needed for your trip to Belo Horizonte.

Do I need a visa?

Visa requirements depend on your nationality, the passport you will travel with, and the purpose and length of your stay. Brazil has visa-waiver agreements with many countries, but the conditions and permitted stay vary.

Consult the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations’ visa information and country requirements. Confirm the requirements for conference attendance with the Brazilian embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence, including whether you need a Visit Visa (VIVIS).

Electronic visas — United States, Canada, and Australia

Visitors traveling on passports from the United States, Canada, and Australia have been subject to visa requirements again since April 10, 2025. See the Brazilian government’s e-Visa guidance.

Eligible travelers can apply through the official Brazilian e-Visa portal, which includes conference attendance among its business travel purposes. Use the portal to check current eligibility, required documents, and fees.

1. Apply using the passport you will travel with, upload the required documents, and pay the application fee.
2. Allow time for processing and any requests for additional information. The portal recommends applying two months before travel.
3. Once approved, download and print the e-Visa to carry with you for boarding and arrival in Brazil.

Applying through an embassy or consulate

If you require a visa and are not eligible for an e-Visa, contact the Brazilian embassy or consulate responsible for your place of residence. Follow its instructions for the application, documents, fees, and any appointment requirements. The government’s visa application service page provides an overview of the process.

Processing times vary, so begin preparations well before your departure. Also check whether your itinerary requires a transit visa for any connecting country.

Invitation and visa support letters

If your application requires a letter confirming your participation in LAMIR 2026, contact the organizing team at lamir.workshop@gmail.com to discuss the documentation needed. Include your name, affiliation, planned participation in the workshop, and any requirements or deadlines provided by your consulate.

A support letter does not replace a visa or guarantee visa approval or entry into Brazil.
